Almost 30 years in the beauty and skincare industry, and I'm more passionate about what I do today than ever before.
My career has taken me from luxury cruise ships to prestigious health spas, including Champneys, and into professional training and education, developing a genuine fascination with skin science and an endless desire to learn, grow and improve. But the direction of my career changed because of something much closer to home: my daughter.
When she was young, she was scratched on the face by a puppy, though if you ask her, she'll say she was attacked by a dog! Following the injury, she developed a spider naevus, a vascular lesion that became considerably more prominent whenever she got hot or flushed. We sought medical advice and were reassured it was harmless and didn't need treatment.
But while it wasn't medically significant, it mattered to her, and that mattered to me. With my existing skincare background, I began researching treatment options and discovered that by training in advanced electrolysis, I could learn to treat vascular lesions myself. So that's exactly what I did and in treating my daughter's spider naevus, I discovered, completely unexpectedly, what would become my greatest professional passion. You can see the before and after images here; Jessica's Story.
Skin lesions come in every shape and size, some subtle, others large, prominent and hard to ignore. Although many are medically harmless, their impact on someone's confidence can be enormous. Being able to treat concerns clients may have lived with for years, sometimes achieving genuinely life-changing results, is what makes my work so rewarding. For me, it's never about the size of the lesion. It's about the size of the difference we can make.
What began with one spider naevus quickly grew into a fascination with the extraordinary versatility of advanced electrolysis. I continued training in increasingly complex skin lesions, eventually achieving my Level 5 qualification in Advanced Cosmetic Procedures with Sterex - graduating with a Distinction. Today, advanced electrolysis is at the heart of what I do.

Creator of SCin Events and co-host of The Skin Symposium, bringing together specialist practitioners, educators and industry leaders.
When I founded SCin Matters in August 2022, I had a clear vision: to build a clinic recognised for exceptional specialist knowledge, advanced treatments and a genuine commitment to making a difference.
I've never been interested in standing still, following trends or simply doing things because that's how they've always been done. I believe in continually challenging myself, expanding my expertise and pushing the boundaries of what I can achieve.
In just four years, that ambition has led to national industry recognition, multiple award achievements and the creation of SCin Events and The Skin Symposium.
Recognised as a national finalist in one of the beauty industry's most prestigious awards, celebrating excellence in professional electrolysis.
Awarded third place nationally, recognising specialist expertise, dedication and excellence in advanced skin treatments.
Further national recognition for SCin Matters and its commitment to delivering specialist skin treatments with exceptional care.
Taking my passion for education and professional standards beyond the clinic, creating opportunities for skin specialists, educators and industry leaders to connect, share knowledge and inspire growth across our industry.
These achievements mean an enormous amount to me, particularly in such a short time since opening SCin Matters. But what makes me proudest isn't simply the awards. It's the trust my clients place in me, the difference my treatments can make to their lives and the opportunity to contribute to an industry I'm incredibly passionate about.
I'm incredibly proud of how far I've come, but even more excited about where I'm going.
